This week’s Chemical Watch news podcast, hosted by members of the Chemical Watch team, sees North America managing editor Terry Hyland, Europe desk editor Vanessa Zainzinger and Europe managing editor Leigh Stringer join global managing editor Kate Lowe to discuss the latest developments.

On the agenda is the launch of a petition by animal protection groups and companies to put pressure on the European Commission to legislate a stricter ban on animal testing of cosmetic ingredients.

Staying with Europe we discuss industry reaction to a public consultation on the European Union’s new sustainable textiles strategy which closed on 4 August. The Commission plans to publish responses, along with a summary report, in early October, with adoption of the strategy expected by the end of the year.

But we start with the latest developments from the US where the EPA has announced it is to extend compliance dates for TSCA prohibitions on phenol, isopropylated phosphate (3:1) – or PIP (3:1) – in electronics and other commercial equipment.
